The Fairfax County Office for Women & Domestic and Sexual Violence Services (OFWDSVS) invites you and representatives from your organization to join us on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting when the Board will proclaim April 2016 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The meeting will be held in the Government Center Board Auditorium at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia.
This year’s proclamation will be accepted by Kathleen Kelmelis, a long-time advocate for issues involving sexual violence. Her recent role as chair of the Fairfax County Sexual Assault Task Force highlighted her leadership abilities as well as her passion for helping sexual assault victims. The recommendations from the task force have resulted in initiatives to effect change through programming designed to encourage healthy attitudes, behaviors, and relationships among youth and teens.
A reception will be held immediately preceding the proclamation in the Conference Center Reception Area at 8:30 a.m. The Conference Center is located directly across from the Board Auditorium. The Jeans Project and Silent Survivor silhouettes will be on display at the reception.
Please contact Jennifer McPherson at (703) 324-3586 or by email at email@example.com to confirm your attendance and/or request special accommodations. If you have questions, please contact Ms. McPherson directly.
We hope you will be able to join us for this special event!
